After a near record high temperatures in the region a few days before the competition, Winter Games organizers moved the snowshoe events from Cobbs Hill to Swain Resort in Swain, N.Y. where there is the ability to make snow. Temperatures still stayed above freezing so athletes were faced with a mix of slush, ice and mud throughout their races.
